Food Writing-Takeaway, Dev Chippy
I`ve spent more of my loan on Devonshire Chippy specials than I care to remember. During my first year the lure of fish in a bap for someone who has trouble using a microwave was too much to turn down.
Don`t get me wrong, Dev Chippy although famous amongst the student community won`t be winning a Michelin star. For me, originally from Hull, I’ll never forgive them for selling burgers and donor kebabs.
Now in my third year, after a few too many drinks in the Nursery Tavern a hearty fish bap is perfect for soaking up the pints.
Stumbling down the road to the Chippy I notice the blue sign with the garish yellow writing. I order my fish bap knowing that I will regret it in the morning when I have to add it to my calorie counter.
I hand over the change caught from the bottom of my bag in exchange for my bap. I walk home with my supper taking care not to drop it as if the fish is worth its weight in gold.
I arrive home with my bap still warm, luckily no need to scare the microwave. I sit my bap on the side and collect the essentials; a plate, ketchup and a pint of water.
In my hungry state I squeeze too hard and am a little overgenerous with the ketchup. I cut the bap in half and make for my room.
Tucked up in bed I take as big a bite as I can. I note that for me this is the best bap south of the Humber.

Serious neglect…
Wow, well I have just had a seminar on food writing with the Sheffield Star restaurant reviewer Martin Dawes. It didn`t set of a spark of a new dream or anything but it was intresting to hear his advice.
He told me that I have a very chatty writing style which got me thinking about blogs. Infact, a have just come across a really good blog/website. I think its really good so here is the link http://www.charlotteharman.co.uk/.
So, I just remembered that I set up a blog over a near ago now, that it is clear that I have posted very little on.
I surpose I am just going to post articles I have written on here, perhaps chat mindless rubbish a bit too.
Since if nothing else I must remember….

10 years on from 9/11
Dear whoever…
I feel that I have no right to talk about this subject since I myself have no grasp on the true trama of the events of September 11th 2001. I am blessed that at the age of 19 I have never lost any of my close family or friends so have no idea of the pain the families and friends of the victims have gone through over the past 10 years. On September 11th 2001 I was 9 years old and remember that I must have just returned to school after the summer holidays. I remember that I came in from school and on the television they were showing the twin towers. I asked my mum what had happened and she turned off the television and said something along the lines of nothing I needed to see.I recently watched a programme on channel 4 The Children of 9/11. The programme interviewed children of some of the victims who died. Most of those who recalled that day and their grief for their parents over the past ten years were the same age as me or even younger. This programme reminded me that even though we are now ten years on from the attacks the terroists who hyjacked those planes not only killed thousands that day but robbed many more of loved ones, parents, children, friends.
Rest in Peace all those who died on September 11th 2011.

First ever post!
Dear whoever…
I guess I should say how excited I am about my first ever post!. Lol this is weird as I am probably the only person who will only ever read this. Even so hello me in the future, I hope you are everything I hope to be….and have a hot boyfriend. CHEESE. lol. Right, I guess I should write about why I want to start this blog. Well, I am about to start my second year at Sheffield Hallam Univerisity studying Media Studies. I have been advised in numerous lectures about what a good idea it is to start a blog and apparently its a really good way to vent frustration! GRRR. I guess I don’t really know what I am going to write about in this blog, I guess I should probably come up with a theme, though I probably am not enough of an expert on any subject to write about it!. I guess I will just instead write about whatever is in my head and my opinions on news and currents events etc. Sorry to disappoint if you stumbled across this blog looking for something like expert advice on the best new games or gadgets.
Okay, guess I should think of something to actually blog about now.
